Additional information about the gemstones and materials used in this design:
Shell and Mother-of-Pearl jewelry may be the earliest form of human adornment. Ancient beads, made from shells with holes bored into them, were discovered in 2006 and date to around 100,000 years ago. Shell continues to be desirable today for its simplicity, iridescent glimmer and natural decorative patterns.
Freshwater Pearls: As the Smithsonian says: "Our attraction to pearls is timeless. Among the first gems known to early humans, pearls have grown in value and appeal from accidental finds by fishermen to a multibillion-dollar industry. Their rarity has made them a traditional sign of wealth, filling vaults from Ancient Egypt to Hollywood and gracing many of history's famous figures." Freshwater cultured pearls develop (or grow) the same as wild pearls, however, the process is started when humans insert an irritant into the shell instead of an irritant being introduced by nature.
Argentium 930 Silver by Rio Grande: Jewelry created with Argentium Silver is highly tarnish resistant and will look beautiful with minimal, if any, polishing due to a higher germanium content than traditional alloys such as Sterling Silver.
