These mirrors utilize rare African Curly Bubinga and a very similar frame hangs in Pasadena's Gamble house. Although this wood is very difficult to work with because of its incredible hardness and wild, unpredictable grain pattern, its payoff is a one-of-a-kind look and texture. The second frame was book-matched from the same plank (yes, mirrored-image mirrors).

Michael Adams has been designing and building fine furniture for over fifteen years. His shop, located in the foothills of Santa Paula in Southern California, produces a small number of one-of-a-kind and reproduction pieces.

Primarily utilizing mahogany, cherry, bubinga and other figured or spalted hard and soft woods, he combines strong linear design with soft edges and the occasional whimsical feature.

Michael enhances the natural characteristics of rare and figured wood with transparent finishes, often building on natural 'flaws' that other artists disdain. Working irregular wood can be time-consuming, but the unique character is nearly always worth it.
