Created from a cherry slab, this 2' x 5' live edge table is nicely figured and well-proportioned. A decorative spalted maple butterfly stabilizes the split top.

While most slab tables utilize massive, chunky bases, I found an elegant solution: Four carved walnut legs, hand shaped to resemble tree branches, complement this piece by providing strength without overshadowing the top's graceful curves. This is truly a one of a kind item.

Primarily utilizing mahogany, cherry, bubinga and other figured or spalted hard and soft woods, he combines strong linear design with soft edges and the occasional whimsical feature.

Michael enhances the natural characteristics of rare and figured wood with transparent finishes, often building on natural 'flaws' that other artists disdain. Working irregular wood can be time-consuming, but the unique character is nearly always worth it.
